New single Doubt may owe a certain debt to Sumner, Hooky and co, but the scatter-shot electronic squelches, hushed vocals and robotic drum loops are actually more akin to recent Bloc Party. However, Delphic have a lighter touch and greater pop leanings than Kele Okerekes gang. Even during the slightly cryptic chorus (Doubt, in it all for me, Ive hit the wall, all thats left for you is doubt, better you than me, Ive so far to fall), theres an immediacy and warmth to the track which suggests that theres more to these Manc upstarts than New Year hype.
